April sees two market leading brands join the huge Polimil boot range. In line with the strategy to expand Polimil’s boot offer they announced today the introduction of Caterpillar and Dr Martens into their Safety Boot range. A spokesperson said “Bringing in these two great brands to our safety boot range marks the beginning of a 2 year range expansion programme and we are delighted that Caterpillar and Dr Martens have recognised the potential that Polimil presents and have come on board”.

Exmoor 30:30, the rugged endurance race covering 30 miles or 30 kms whilst carrying 30lbs has announced the dates for 2012 – Saturday 15th September. Last year’s event saw several teams from far and wide including the Norwegian Special Forces, the Parachute Regiment, the Metropolitan Police, as well as corporate teams, complete the course in the most inhospitable weathers. And for the first time, the event had the corporate support of Europe’s largest military footwear manufacturer, YDS.

Exmoor 30:30 raises funds for the Royal British Legion. For the first time the event offered alternative courses – a 30 mile course or a 30km course – and not only did the event attract twice the number of female participants but we also saw a junior (under 18) team complete the course too.

Last year’s winning team – South Molton Branch Team of the Royal British Legion, completed the 30 mile course in 8 hours 55 mins and raised a total of £13,000.

At the end of the gruelling day a well earned dinner includes the presentation of the trophies. YDS is delighted to be supporting this event that classically displays why comfortable, well fitting, supportive footwear is essential.

The Exmoor is a serious race for physically fit individuals to test themselves against both terrain and weather in a timed competition through 10 manned checkpoints across Exmoor.  It appeals to both civvy slackers & military personnel – but it most definitely is, as they put it, for “competitors, not casualties”. Whether solo or in a team, choose your class, and test yourself in one of the UK’s toughest races.

Polimil announces expansion plans at its warehouse and shop location at Frog Island, Leicester.

This Summer sees Polimil taking up even larger premises at Frog Island, as it continues to grow and go from strength to strength. The new location will bring more display space for shop customers and provide more space for the brands to show their products more effectively. At the same time the stock and fulfillment operation will be better situated and integrated with the rest of the operation leading to improved customer service and operating efficiencies.

Welcome to the brand new Polimil website designed and launched September 2011. The old one has served us very well for the past 7 years but both our customers and we felt that it was time for an upgrade. This is partly because our range and number of brands and products have increased dramatically over that time and as such we needed a better way of presenting ourselves but also because the technology available has improved at a pace as well.

In the change we have been mindful of the very good elements of the old site that have helped Polimil to become a respected and leading company in the field of specialist equipment and clothing to the police, military, security and emergency services and have taken care to retain the good whilst delivering the new but if you do see something that you don’t like or we have lost something you used to like please do let us know.

We have tried to ensure that the site looks good but also works really well. We want everyone to be able to find what they want quickly and easily and to that end have provided a number of ways to shop – by product, by brand and by job (police, military, security, emergency services).

The site is also more flexible and enables Polimil to offer and manage many more promotions and offers ensuring we continue to offer superior value for money across the broadest range of products.

We have made the product pictures sharper and bigger and installed better zoom functionality which is a real advantage when shopping on the internet as it really does feel as if the product is in your hands.

Lastly, whilst we haven’t ever had any problems in the area of security we felt it important to keep up with best in class in this area and have therefore further improved check out and payment security with the addition of Verisign security software.
